Chapter 11

Finally, after hours of ripping and running all over the city and disinfecting and cleaning his new home from top to bottom, Nicholas was done purchasing and ordering everything needed for his home, and ready to crash before work. With all of his furniture and appliances not being able to be delivered until the beginning of next week, he would have to improvise on something. After running his hand along his air mattress in his master bedroom to make sure it was air tight, Nicholas went into the hall, grabbed a fitted sheet and covered the mattress. Exhaling, he looked around his house and a small smirk appeared on his lips.

“I'm finally a homeowner. I'm finally home.”

As he headed to the shower, Nicholas began wondering how his home would feel once it was fully furnished. Even further down the line, when it was complete with a family. His thoughts immediately led him to Carmen, only this time, she was barefoot and pregnant, wobbling about the house with his child. He became overjoyed with the possibility, but at the same time, it startled him.No matter which way he turned, Carmen would always be the only woman to appear when he thought about his future.

It wasn't a bad thing, but with all the women that he'd been with, he wondered why no other woman was floating around in his subconscious like Carmen did. While a big part of him already knew the answer, he refused to admit it to himself. Ignoring the thought, Nicholas jumped in the shower. By the time the hot water hit his body, he was just trying to stay awake.

His day had been long and he had a feeling that his night and week would be longer, especially with all of the bickering back and forth with Carmen that he knew he'd have to endure. Though secretly, he enjoyed getting a rise out of her. Yeah, all that fieriness was such a turn on to him. Even though she loved to hit below the belt, he knew he could handle her.

“Hell, I'd give anything to handle her a certain way again.” Nicholas mused.

Exiting the shower, he dried his body and shook his head at the memories of their many mind blowing erotic interludes. His last thoughts before his heavy eyelids finally gave way were of Carmen, and he wondered if she still felt as good as she used to when he slid inside of her.

Carmen was bummed that her girl's day with Melinda was cut short because she was called into work a few hours early unexpectedly. Instead of sulking like she wanted to, she opted for a quick shopping spree and full body massage by her favorite masseuse, Justin.

“Since I can't drink on the job, a massage was the only other way to distress and remain calm so I won't have to ring Nicholas' neck when I get in here.” Carmen concluded as she turned into the station's parking structure.

Gathering her purse, Carmen said a quick prayer for patience and went inside.
